Sefer Bi Lebnen to Maaser El Chouf
8:00 AM – Departure from Beirut
Meet at the designated meeting point and head toward Maaser El Shouf.
10:00 – 10:45 AM — Welcome & Traditional Hospitality
Arrival at Maaser Donkey Farm.
Warm welcome by Mate and the team, with traditional hospitality. (Mate, Cracking walnuts and almonds, Fig Jam and Tahini, and dried Loquat ( خارما مجفّفة)
10:45 AM – 12:15 PM — Feeding & Interacting with the Farm Animals
• Guided interaction with the animals as they wander freely around the group.
• Animals include: goats, sheep, chickens, geese, pigeons, rabbits, and cats.
• Participants can feed, pet, and spend time with them.
12:15 PM – 2:00 PM — Tree House Hike & Nature Experience
• Short hike (15–20 minutes) to the Tree House.
• Accompanied by the big donkeys and guides.
• The owner explains:
• the farm’s story
• the land
• local trees and plants
• the biosphere of Maaser
• Free time at the Tree House for photos, rest, and snacks.
Rosemary Distillation
Learn how to distill Rosemary using traditional methods.
2:00 PM – 2:45 PM — Donkey-Milk Soap Making Workshop
• Learn the process of making natural soap from donkey milk.
• Demonstration includes milking the donkey and preparing the base for the soap.
2:45 PM – 4:00 PM — Machewe Lunch Experience
Enjoy a traditional mashawi lunch including:
• Meat
• Kabab
• Tawouk
Participants will make and grill their own mashawi sandwiches. Arak Baladeh Included.
(Adults have the option of traditional regional beverages; non-alcoholic syrups available for everyone.)
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM — Fig Molasses Making (Dibs Workshop)
Discover the process of preparing traditional molasses (dibs) and learn how it is made.
After 5:00 PM — Free Time & Sunset Moments
Relax at the farm, play group games, take photos during sunset, or enjoy the peaceful surroundings before departure.
- This is a rural, outdoor experience; participants should be comfortable interacting with farm animals and walking on natural terrain.
- Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for light hiking and farm activities.
- Please bring a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat.
Lunch includes traditional mashawi; vegetarian options may be limited, so please inform us in advance of any dietary restrictions. - Arak Baladeh is served for adults only; non-alcoholic alternatives are available for everyone.
- The donkey-milk soap demonstration includes a live milking session. Participation is optional.
- Weather conditions in Maaser El Shouf can be cooler than in Beirut; bringing an extra layer is recommended.
- The program may be adjusted slightly depending on weather or farm conditions to ensure participant safety and comfort.
